Job Description

The Field Service Engineer I spends 50% of their time performing field service as a field service engineer and 50% of their time as technical assistant agent to support web/phone/email from customers and sales.

Job Duties

Performance of these responsibilities shall be conducted in accordance with departmental and corporate guidelines in a manner that will ensure achievement of established business goals and objectives.

Pass all training courses offered in a defined period by Field Service Management.

Provide onsite instrument installation, maintenance and repair within an assigned geographical area or as required.

With minimal supervision, conduct system diagnoses and repairs, perform maintenance/calibration and detailed cleaning of products and accessories, and installs software and upgrades as required.

Prepare technical reports and Service Repair information as necessary while in the field. Manage company property including electronics, tools, jigs and repair parts with diligence and care.

Submit all reports in a timely and accurate manner such as Field Service Reports, Expense Reports, Quality Control Reports, Installation and Countermeasure forms in accordance with your Supervisor and/or corporate headquarter requirements.

Remote assist Field Service Engineers and Sales Representatives with product installations, trade shows and other field events as required.

Communicate effectively to all internal and external customers through written and verbal methods.

Ensure timely, professional, and effective response to customer service needs to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Complete product and application support training for Microscopy products.

Provide technical support for assigned products including setup, demonstration, and technical consultation with end users, and collaborative partners.

Provide day-to-day technical information for leads, quotes, and orders.

Contribute and assist in maintenance of product knowledge database.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent (including military service) experience.

Must be willing to travel and work on a non-scheduled basis, including occasional weekends.

Must be able to obtain a passport and travel internationally without restrictions.

Must have a valid driver s license, clean driving record and satisfactory credit rating to qualify for company credit card.

PREFERRED
Qualifications:

Has used complex analytical or measuring instrument(s) in a real-world situation or in a college lab setting.

Hands-on experience with an opto-mechanical or electronic system is helpful.

Microscopy experience is desirable but not required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and willing to work in a service role with a goal of superior customer satisfaction.

Experience in technical after-sale service environment/organization including field service and direct customer communications would be a plus.

Excellent computer skills and capable of doing PC software and driver installation in a current Windows environment.

Knowledge of at least three of following:
mechanical drawing, parts diagram, basic optics, spectroscopy, microscopy, electronics, manual dexterity or PC programming.

Must have demonstrated good communication skills, organization, and reliability.

Capable of making color delineation between all visible wavelengths of light.
